About

Dr. Rafael Uribe is a neurosurgeon who specializes in the surgical treatment of brain tumors. He completed his medical degree at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana followed by residency in neurosurgery at Hospital Universitario San Ignacio in Bogotá, Colombia. He then relocated to the United States where he received a Master of Health Science in Clinical Investigation from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.

After completing his master’s program, Dr. Uribe pursued a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He then went to complete further fellowships in pediatric, minimally invasive endoscopic, and epilepsy surgery at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He would then complete a fellowship in endoscopic skull base and pituitary surgery and to satisfy his credentialing in neurosurgery in the United States he then completed residency in neurosurgery at the same institution.

In addition to oral and poster presentations at various conferences nationally and internationally, Dr. Uribe has had his work published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, including Operative Neurosurgery, World Neurosurgery, The Journal of Neurosurgery, and Pediatric Neurosurgery. He has also published basic science research on the use of focused ultrasound for the treatment of brain tumors in the prestigious Journal of Controlled Release. This project received the Christopher Gaposhkin Resident Research Award in 2023.

Dr. Uribe was also recognized by his peers for his interest in teaching residents and medical students by receiving the Philip E. Stieg Faculty Teaching Award.
