Infectious Disease

The infectious disease team is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of both acute and chronic infectious diseases.  The physicians are board certified in both infectious disease and internal medicine and evaluate the whole patient when developing a treatment plan.

Through close collaboration with microbiologists and pathologists, and the use of advanced diagnostic technology, we are able to provide diagnoses that lead to effective treatment of viral, bacterial and parasitic infections.  The physicians work closely with the teams in the Infusion center and wound care as required to optimize patient care.

Patients with an acute or chronic infection that is difficult to diagnose, or one that is failing to respond to treatment, may require the advanced training of an infectious disease specialist. Individuals planning a trip to a location where the risk of infection exists, may also want to consult with our infectious disease physician in advance.  One of the best ways to prevent infectious diseases is immunization.

Your specialist may order laboratory tests and review your medical records including all medications you are taking.  Treatment may consist of antibiotics and additional medications to fight the infection and prevent its recurrence.
