White Plains Hospital Physician Associates Bolsters Neurosurgery with Appointments of Dr. Kaushik Das and Dr. Virany Hillard
White Plains, N.Y. (February 13, 2022) – White Plains Hospital Physician Associates recently announced that Dr. Kaushik Das has been appointed Director of Neurosurgery and Dr. Virany Hillard has been named Director of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery. Located in White Plains Hospital’s Center for Advanced Medicine & Surgery, Drs. Das and Hillard work in partnership with experts in pain management and spinal surgery to offer patients comprehensive treatment for complex spine, cranial, and neurological conditions.
The Neurosurgery team evaluates and treats conditions such as cerebral aneurysms, subdural hematomas, spinal stenosis, epilepsy, and brain and spine tumors. Using innovative surgical and nonsurgical therapies, each patient is evaluated by an interdisciplinary team to determine the most effective treatment option, reserving surgery for when alternative treatments are not effective.
Dr. Kaushik Das and Dr. Virany Hillard are well-respected across the region, having both recently joined White Plains Hospital Physician Associates from Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York. Both have been affiliated with White Plains Hospital for many years.
Dr. Das earned his medical degree cum laude from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn. This was followed by an internship in general surgery at the Westchester County Medical Center’s New York Medical College, after which he completed his residency in neurosurgery at the same institution. He then went on to complete a fellowship in spinal surgery at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. After completing his fellowship, he joined the faculty at New York Medical College, where he was the Director of Spine Section for Neurosurgery for 10 years before coming to White Plains Hospital in 2015.
Dr. Hillard earned her medical degree cum laude from New York University, followed by an internship in general surgery at the New York Medical College Westchester Medical Center and a neurosurgery residency at the same institution. Dr. Hillard then completed a spine surgery fellowship in the Department of Neurological and Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Utah. She has also served as associate clinical professor of neurological surgery at New York Medical College and as assistant professor of neurological surgery at the University of Washington.
