Specialists in sports medicine and joint replacement have extensive expertise

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (May 19, 2014) – Orthopedic surgeons Michael Schwartz, M.D. and Daniel Markowicz, M.D., of White Plains Hospital Physician Associates Orthopaedic Specialists, began seeing patients in the Hospital’s ambulatory center in the Wykagyl section of New Rochelle last week. Both physicians are board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Schwartz, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, received his medical degree from University of Health Sciences Chicago Medical School and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at The University Medical Center at SUNY Stony Brook. He completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine – Shoulder, Elbow, and Knee Arthroscopy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Rothman Institute. He has served as an instructor to other orthopedic surgeons for the Arthroscopy Association of North American, is the author of numerous scholarly research articles and chapters in orthopedic surgical textbooks, and has presented his work at several professional conferences.

Dr. Markowicz, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement, earned his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine & Public Health and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He received his Fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction & Joint Replacement at The Hospital for Special Surgery. He has served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at SUNY Downstate and as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the New York University Department of Physical Therapy. He has presented his scholarly work on hip replacement surgery at international professional conferences and also lectured for both local and international audiences on a variety of topics in orthopedic surgery.

The new office, White Plains Hospital Physician Associates and Imaging Center at New Rochelle, is located at 1296 North Avenue, in the Wykagyl Shopping Center. The two-story 18,000 square-foot facility is the first White Plains Hospital Physician Associates satellite practice and imaging center in the Sound Shore area and in addition to orthopedists, includes physicians specializing in primary care, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, , obstetrics and gynecology. The facility also houses a comprehensive diagnostic imaging center on the ground floor.
