Orthopaedic Surgeon Daniel Markowicz, M.D., Joins the White Plains Hospital Family

White Plains, NY (June 17, 2013) – White Plains Hospital has welcomed Orthopaedic Surgeon Daniel Markowicz, M.D., of Manhattan, to its group of integrated physician practices as of June 1st. Dr. Markowicz has joined White Plains Hospital Physician Associates Orthopaedic Specialists, a division of the Hospital aligning physicians with Hospital services.

Dr. Markowicz completed his fellowship in Adult Reconstruction & Joint Replacement at The Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Prior to this he completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Hospitals for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Markowicz received his Medical Degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine & Public Health where he earned Honors in every surgical specialty and was the recipient of the Ferguson Award in Surgery. He attended Washington University in St. Louis where he majored in Biology. Dr. Markowicz holds faculty appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development where he teaches the Orthopaedic curriculum to graduate physical therapy students.

Dr. Markowicz is Board-Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He specializes in total joint replacement & in revision total joint replacement of the hip and knee as well as in general adult orthopaedic surgery.

Since he has been in practice Dr. Markowicz has performed more than 1,000 major orthopaedic surgeries including hundreds of joint replacements and revisions. He has published articles in peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals and his research has been presented at national and international academic meetings, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has spoken on orthopaedic surgery techniques and care at national continuing medical education seminars for other orthopaedists.
