WPHPA Internal Medicine & Infectious Disease
Our infectious disease team is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of both acute and chronic infectious diseases. Our physicians are board certified in both infectious disease and internal medicine and evaluate the whole patient when developing a treatment plan.
Through close collaboration with microbiologists and pathologists, and the use of advanced diagnostic technology, we are able to provide diagnoses leading to effective treatment of bacterial and parasitic infections. The physicians work closely with the teams in the Infusion Center and Wound Care as required to optimize patient care.
If you have an acute or chronic infection that is difficult to diagnose, or one that is failing to respond to treatment, you may require the advanced training of an infectious disease specialist. If you are planning a trip to a location where the risk of infection exists, you may want to consult with one of our infectious disease physicians in advance. One of the best ways to prevent infectious diseases is immunization. Your specialist may order laboratory tests and review your medical records including all medications you are taking. Treatment may consist of antibiotics and additional medications to fight the infection and prevent its recurrence.
