08/02/2016

White Plains, NY (August 2, 2016) – U.S. News & World Report has once again recognized White Plains Hospital as a Best Regional Hospital for 2016/2017. The Hospital was named highest on the list among Westchester hospitals and #15 both in the state and in the metro area, out of a total of nearly 250 hospitals in New York rated by U.S. News & World Report. This is up from their ranking of #16 and #18, respectively in 2015/2016. The Hospital also received high performance rankings in several key clinical areas: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, heart failure, colon cancer surgery, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery.

Michael Palumbo, M.D., Medical Director and Executive Vice President at White Plains Hospital commented, “This is a powerful validation of our continuous and very diligent efforts in providing exceptional health care, every day, to the people of our community.” He continued, “As our hospital has grown and our clinical services have expanded alongside our developing partnership with the Montefiore Health System, we are proud to maintain a dedicated focus on quality, safety and positive clinical outcomes, and to be bringing a more advanced level of care to Westchester County.”

Recognizing those hospitals that are not nationally ranked, Best Regional Hospitals provides patients performance information on their local general medical-surgical hospitals. To be ranked, specific criteria must be met, which was updated in 2016/17. The rankings are based on a rigorous U.S. News methodology which factors in a hospital’s performance in areas such as patient survival, patient safety and care-related factors such as nursing, technology and patient services, as well as reputation.
